What is Tinting?

What is tinting?

Tinting is the process of using a vegetable dye to color lashes or brows or lighten brows. The results last up to 6 weeks. Its a very subtle natural result. The service takes about 15 minutes from start to finish and less when its used as an add-on service. Salons charge between $25-$50 to tint. Lash and brow Tinting is illegal in the state of California - for reasons that do not really make any sense. In some states you need to be a cosmetologist, in some states esthetician and other states you do not need any license to do it.

Who should tint?

Tinting is great for people who color their hair or have grays or whites they want to color. Tinting is also great for enhancing lashes and brows to make them look fuller, longer and darker. The result is similar to using brow makeup or mascara but is not going to be as dramatic as eyelash extensions. This is a great add on for people who are doing lash extensions or brow extensions and have light hair. It will help you see their hair you have to work with and make your job easier. Blond tint can be used to lighten brows up to three shades.

Tinting is great for summer when you don't want to wear makeup or for people who have issues with mascara running.

Who is not a good candidate?

Clients who are allergic to dye or are on accutane are not good candidates. Clients who want a very dramatic look should be explained that this may be a good complimentary service to other services but alone is a very natural result. Some clients with very sensitive skin or eyes may not be a good candidate.
